I chose this cover because the song’s message about guilt, repression, and imposed morality still resonates deeply today. Reimagining it from a female, lesbian perspective felt important to me as a way to highlight stories that have often been silenced or misunderstood.
Although this is not my own lived experience, this cover is made with respect and empathy; as an attempt to listen, reflect, and give space to voices that deserve to be heard. Musically, I wanted to place that story in a modern, emotional soundscape that invites reflection rather than judgment.
This cover is about understanding, not speaking over; about using music as a bridge between experiences.
